Story Ketubot

Storytelling Ketubot

Below are some of the “storytelling” ketubot I have made over the years - in chronological order. Along with the images of the finished ketubot, you might see a picture of a surprised couple! That is because: this is the first time they see the ketubah! I do a fun thing (well, I hope it’s fun!) where I ask the couple to - separately - tell me the story of their relationship. Places they’ve been, things they’ve done, and stories that are meaningful to their journey. Then, I ask for some art they have in their homes, artists they love, colors they’re into - whatever will give me an idea of their style as a couple. Then, I’m off! I create a piece I hope speaks to them as a couple and tells their unique story.

My favorite part of making story-ketubot is getting to know the couple in a way a rare few do. I am immersed in playlists, art, and stories that only they can share.

Being part of these love stories has been an unbelievable privilege and honor. Enjoy a little of their stories below!

Ariela & Harris

When Ariela and Harris asked me to create a ketubah for them, the word ketubah was nothing more than a lovely Jewish tradition. Their belief in me and my art was the beginning of this whole thing and will forever be known as the ketubah that started it all ❤️

Their origin story, laid out here in watercolor, has always inspired me; embodying everything a ketubah, a marriage, and a partnership stand for.

Delilah & Neil

My two favorite comic book nerds, Delilah & Neil, met through a social kickball league. Their connection was undeniable (I would know, I was there!) This ketubah is the story of those first two years told through a comic strip. Their love began how most great loves do: a game of darts and Delilah singing a karaoke version of Rollin' by Limp Bizkit. Delilah & Neil are a perfect complement to each other, and I feel so blessed to have them in my chosen family.

Adina & Noah

I don’t think I will ever create a piece of art that will mean more to me than this ketubah. It hung above Adina’s childhood bed, where she passed in February of 2022. One of the greatest joys of my life was knowing Adina. Her memory will forever be the sweetest blessing.

This ketubah is the story of Adina & Noah’s beautiful union, from the hamentashen that once lived on Noah’s dating profile to a watercolor rendition of their chuppah. One of the most perfect couples I have seen, their love story inspires me every day.

Abby & Geoff

Abby & Geoff’s story - in all its wild wonder - was written in the stars. My most boldly colorful ketubah (the first to feature glitter!) complimented their boldly colorful wedding in Cape Cod and their boldly colorful relationship. The text, written by the bride herself, adds to this display of their unique union and ends with a beautiful quote by one of our favorite poets, Sarah Kay:

“I will love with you with too many commas, but never any asterisks.”

Susie & Benjy

One of my forever favorite love couples, I can not begin to articulate how tremendously obsessed I am with Susie & Benjy’s love. Their words, passion, and commitment to each other and themselves are beyond compare. From the school bus to their beautiful backyard wedding, it is a Great Neck love story like no other.

Phoebe & Eric

Phoebe and Eric shared many playlists with me as part of their story. It seemed only natural that their ketubah is “record covers” of some of their most notable adventures and favorite albums. As the words to their song proclaim,

“There was love all around
But I never heard it singing
No, I never heard it at all
'Til there was you”

I hope they always hear love singing together.

Shady & Danny

Shady and Danny’s story begins in Los Angeles, travels through Napa Valley, Mexico City, and Santa Barbara, and thrives now in Houston. The inspiration for this ketubah came from the wooden chandelier above their Napa proposal, their post-wedding road trip to Texas, a few easter eggs, and the bride and groom dancing the night away at their engagement party.
