This photograph was taken at a shrine in Kyoto, Japan. Japan is the land of casual shines. Anywhere you look: shrine. At every shrine you'll find these walls of discarded fortunes. Fortunes people were given but didn't feel they needed or didn't want. I like the idea of rejecting fate like that. Deciding we don't always have to follow our fortune, we can make our own choice to leave them behind.
